It's timeless
it's time
The very best things in life are ageless. They are imbued with a classic sense of design, impeccable workmanship, dependable functionality and an aesthetic appeal that defies the passage of time. So it is with the WACO YMF-5. If you appreciate the successful fusion of classic and contemporary, if you aspire to be the very best, it’s time — your time. Time for the WACO YMF-5.
classic & contemporary
A faithful homage to the Golden Age of biplanes with robust, corrosion-resistant welded steel-tube structure; Jacobs radial power; two staggered, unequal-span wings; and two open, leather-trimmed cockpits—fly from the rear, room for two up front. Yet It’s contemporary with its all-weather fabric skins and rain covers for cockpits and engine, and state-of-the-art options including glass cockpit, composite propeller and composite amphibious floats.

the passion
What is the essence of the WACO experience? It is the essence of flying. Stick and rudder, seat-of-the-pants flying. The thrill of an open-cockpit biplane with the wind tugging at your cheek, watching four wings and four ailerons working their magic, feeling the basso profondo that is a radial engine in full song. This is sport flying. This is passion.
History of Weaver Aircraft Company and the YMF-5
In 1919, Weaver Aircraft Company of Ohio was founded on the passion and innovation of five aviators. It was the love of flight and daring tenacity that led them to produce over 60 different aircraft models in only 28 years – making WACO the leading aircraft manufacturer during the Golden Age of Aviation.
The love of flight runs through the DNA of each aviator. It began over one hundred years ago and is carried through generation after generation of those bold enough to climb into the skies. Understanding this lifeline is crucial for the experienced aviator and even the novice. That’s why the appeal of vintage aircraft continues to grow even as modern aircraft continue to advance.
choose your style
make it your own
The handcrafted approach to manufacturing a WACO YMF-5 allows for much personalization. You can configure your aircraft specifically for the way you want to fly it—personal or commercial flightseeing or sport flying, basic aerobatics, night flight, analog or electronic instrumentation, IFR equipped and certified, and even amphibious Aerocet 3400 composite-construction floats so you can use the water for a runway, too.
design your paint scheme
The possibilities are endless when it comes to the exterior paint scheme of your new WACO YMF-5. With over 150 base colors to choose from and your choice of matte, clear coat, or metallic finish - rest assured that your design is a true extension of your personality.
choose your interior
Work with our in-house design team to configure the interior of your new WACO YMF-5.
Choose from over 80 shades of durable high-quality leather - design your stitch pattern, choose your harness and select the flooring that suits your style and needs.
After all, it's what's on the inside that counts.
configure your instrument panel
Using your imagination our avionics team will design your instrument panel according to your wants and needs.
The WACO YMF-5 is approved for night flight as well as simple aerobatics. You choose from classic gauges or a fully certified IFR glass cockpit - or anywhere in between.
